TDP to hold public meeting today over its demand for Special Category Status for Andhra Pradesh
The chief minister said at the election campaign meeting in this "most sacred" city of Tirupati that Modi had promised to offer SCS, a attractive capital city and other infrastructure to Andhra if the NDA was voted to power. The Chief Minister wants to address at least one public meeting in every district explaining how the BJP cheated the people by going back on the promise of special category status, funds for Amaravati and Polavaram project. "Narendra Modi promised to help AP build its capital better than Delhi".
The TDP is mobilising a huge crowd for the public meeting called "Nammaka Droham-Kutra Rajakeeyalapai Dharma Porata Bahiranga Sabha" (Fight against Betrayal and Collusion Politics - Public Meeting).
Naidu wondered why the Centre could not fulfil its promise to Andhra Pradesh when it had extended the special category status to 11 other states and given them industrial incentives for 10 years.
Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday appealed to industrialists to come forward to provide housing for workers. Andhra Pradesh stood first in ease of doing business and with the prevailing industry-friendly atmosphere several industrialists were coming forward to invest in the State, he said adding that three partnerships summits saw as many as 2,785 MoUs worth Rs 16 lakh crore with 1,496 MoUs now in advanced stage of implementation. Expressing concern over the alleged atrocities being committed against minorities, Dalits and women under the Modi regime, he said: "Our fight will continue until justice is delivered". He said the BJP has not discussed about the election strategy so far.
Simultaneously the main opposition YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) also organized a "Vanchena Vyatereka Deeksha" (Betrayal Day) for the "injustice" done to Andhra Pradesh and to demand SCS.
"Gujarat has Ahmedabad, Telangana has Hyderabad and Karnataka has Bengaluru as capital cities". Reiterating that the BJP-led government at the Centre may foist cases against him, he said he was prepared for everything. "They say that utilisation certificates submitted by us are vague. We will win 25 out of 25 MP seats and decide the next prime minister", he said.
Resonating the sentiments of people of AP, TDP has been continuously staging protests in various forms against the centre on doing injustice to Andhra Pradesh.
