Solo Premiere: How the Mysterious Star Wars Spinoff Played to Its First Audience

The interviewer prods him on saying 'You might want to say one or two more things.' as Ford emerges from behind Ehrenreich's chair.

Ford is also accompanied by the film's director Ron Howard who can't help but laugh during the unexpected surprise.

Ehrenreich was in the midst of answering a question about what advice Ford fave him when they met for lunch before production on the upcoming film. As he casually strolled up to the cameras, it took Ehrenreich a second to realize who was standing next to him. "I should get back to writing, Jesus what have I typed", he concludes". After Ehrenreich vacated the chair, Ford added, "And get out of my life".

The full interview will be aired on Sunday.

Early reactions to "Solo: A Star Wars Story" suggest that the latest standalone entry in the "Star Wars" universe has many fans. A stand-alone installment set prior to the events of A New Hope, it explores the adventures of a young Han Solo and Chewbacca, including meeting Lando Calrissian. That was reportedly the extent of their correspondence before filming began, although Howard did call Ford up when he took over Solo from directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller to get a bit of advice from the OG Han Solo.

The hilarious moment was caught on tape and shows a stunned Ehrenreich get out of his chair and share a hug with Ford.

Critics have wondered whether Ehrenreich would be able to fill such big shoes, and how the actor could make the character "his own" while maintaining the integrity of the original character.

"He said that Han is always torn between that sense that he was, in a way, an orphan, and therefore both yearned for connection with people and struggled with it at the same time". However, at least according to the premiere crowd, Ehrenreich seemed to do a good job.

I'd like to think I'd still be honest but it's not like you're going to come to my Instagram story for hard edged criticism on a Star Wars movie.
