Instagram code reveals music service within Stories and ability to detect music
The feature worked in such a way that users can share their music directly to Instagram Stories from Spotify, and the artwork will appear with an option to play directly on Spotify. Wong also notes that Instagram automatically detected a song she was now playing on her phone, and created a sticker for it. According to a tip received by TechCrunch from Twitter user Jane Manchun Wong, this feature automatically detects the song that's playing on the phone and creates a sticker for it which you could probably add to your Stories or posts so that viewers can listen to it when they come across it.
The code, which was initially found by Ishan Agarwal, shows an unreleased search music feature hidden within the Instagram Stories system.
Facebook seems to be taking a truly all-in-one approach for Instagram. Now the only way to have music heard in your stories is to have it play in the background on your device while you are recording a story. There will be a trending section, with songs that are most popular among the users, another section based on the mood and a third based on genre. However, Wong was unable to post a story with the music sticker. This is new feature will compete with lip syncing app Musically and Snapchat as well.
That said, we might also see Instagram partnering with some music services for this feature, similar to what it did with GIPHY for GIF stickers.
A new Instagram coding found in its Android app hints that Instagram is planning to add music to Stories. Users will be able to share moments from a list of apps including Spotify and GoPro.
The ability to add song to your posts could be borne out of a deal which Facebook signed with some major record labels.
I haven't spotted the new payments feature yet, but reports suggest that some users in the United States and the UK have started seeing it on the app. With the new Payments feature, users will be able to store their card details and purchase directly from the app without having to leave the app. This feature is now limited to certain users.
