Steven Crowder Says Girls In The Boy Scouts Are 'Appropriating' 'Male Culture'

Wyoming Response: Proudly Keeping The 'Girl' In Girl Scouts

Rich Baker, who served for seven years as a scoutmaster for Troop 66 in Belmont, Massachusetts, said he was sorry to see the church drop Scouting, but that it "was never quite fully embraced". The girls have their own pack separate from the boys, but they have the exact same responsibilities and achievements as the boys.

On Tuesday, the two sides announced what had become inevitable: They will split permanently starting in 2020.

The Boy Scouts of America (BSA) are lobbying in multiple states against legislation that could expose the group to lawsuits over old child abuse cases, according to a report in The Washington Post.

But, their futures are now headed in divergent directions. Likewise, any boy accepted into Girl Scouts (if the organization is ever required to accept them) will never be "one of the girls".

The Mormon church made a decision to break ties with the Boy Scouts in order to more effectively explore and implement new, gospel-centric youth programs outside of the U.S.to better serve global members, according to church officials.

However, past year it did remove some 185,000 boys between the ages of 14 and 18 from the Boy Scouts, instead turning them towards church-based community service.

Twitter shared varied reactions to the news. On these scores, they are everything that the Boy Scouts used to be. "I really love the Scouts and think it's a good program that teaches good skills to the boys".

To date the church has been the single biggest sponsor of Boy Scout troops in the U.S. The Mormon boys who will be leaving represent about 18.5 percent of the 2.3 million youth in the organization. It plans on continuing to enroll 8-13-year-old boys in the Cub and Boy Scouts programs until December 31, 2019, at which time the Mormon Church will be finalizing a new youth program to launch in 2020.

Boy Scouts - Beginning Feb. 1, 2019, there will no longer be Boy Scouts.

The LDS Church has previously said that despite the Scouts' changing admission requirements, the church-operated Scouts programs would remain the same. It maintains temples all over the world and boasts a membership of over 16 million adherents. The organization, known for building moral character in male youth, started accepting gay scouts in 2013, gay scout leaders in 2015, so-called transgender scouts in 2017 and has now adopted a gender-neutral name as part of an ad campaign seeking to recruit girls in 2018. The church said it will begin a new program for boys ages 14 to 18.

Officials said the church and Scouts will continue their partnership until the end of 2019 to allow for an "orderly transition".
