Knife Attacker Kills Seven School Children Wounds 12 In China Official

Police have arrested a 28-year-old suspect identified by the surname Zhao who had been a student at the school.

A local police official said that the case was under investigation and declined to provide more details.

A local government statement said the attack happened at Mizhi County Number Three secondary school, at around 18:10 local time (10:10 GMT).

Videos and images posted online by witnesses showed bodies spread along alleyways. The injured students, nine girls and three boys, have all been sent to nearby hospitals for emergency treatment. "Hurry up, hurry up, call for help!" a woman shouted in one video.


The site of the attacks was No. 3 Middle School in Mizhi county, Yulin.

China tightly restricts private gun ownership, making knives and homemade explosives the most common weapons in violent crimes. "Revenge can't be forgiven but we need to find out how it began and prevent future cases".

The incident occurred as a school was let out, and the assailant has been remanded. Law enforcement authorities of China are going to test the psychological sanity of the killer.
