Keep an eye on our news section for each month's announcements of free games!

Just as Sony is detailing the free PlayStation Plus game for April today, Microsoft is doing the same for the free titles that will be offered through Xbox Live's Games with Gold. Xbox One owners will be treated to Assassin's Creed: Syndicate and The Witness while 360 owners will be given Cars 2 and Dead Space 2 to keep.

First up on Xbox One is The Witness, the acclaimed puzzle game from developer Thekla and director Jonathan Blow, who's best known for Braid. Even though it was the last game to come out before the series was put on hiatus for a year, Syndicate was viewed as something of a return to form after the missteps of Assassin's Creed Unity. And on Xbox 360 - and Xbox One thanks to Backward Compatibility - we'll get to play the family-fun racer Cars 2: The Video Game and one of the greatest sci-fi horror games in Dead Space 2. It's a video game based on the movie, and is ideal for children.

This rounds out April's list of free offerings as part of the Xbox Games with Gold program.

Games with Gold first launched in the summer of 2013, offering free games every month to those with an Xbox Live Gold subscription, which costs $10 a month or $60 annually. Read on for the full details and to make sure you don't miss out!

Dead Space 2 was a hit sci-fi action horror game from developer Visceral, which Electronic Arts shut down in October.
