However, in an interview with The New York Times, the singer hopeful said that the kiss was unwanted and made him feel uncomfortable.

He kissed a girl...and didn't like it.

'I've never been in a relationship - I can't kiss a girl without being in a relationship, ' he shared.

Prior to his audition, Glaze revealed how he had never kissed a girl because he was saving his first kiss for his first relationship. The contestant's name is Benjamin Glaze and Perry was the singing show's judge. Perry invited him to kiss her on the cheek, but when he did, she turned her head to kiss him on the lips.

When Benjamin Glaze, at the time a 19-year-old cashier from Enid, Okla., auditioned for "American Idol", he had hoped his big moment would come as he belted out "Stadium", a song he wrote himself.

Another one pointed out that if a man did something like that, he would have been fired by now. "One on the cheek?" he asked before pecking her on the cheek. "I wanted my first kiss to be special". His plan had been for his first kiss to be special and it being with Katy Perry in this way wasn't what he wanted. Perry immediately got up and told him to come to the judges' table. "That's what a real first kiss is", he said. "Yeah. I got him", she replies. "The way certain articles are worded is not done by me, and my true intentions are not accurately represented in every article you read about the situation". Clearly, Benjamin felt a little bit violated and uncomfortable about the whole thing.

"Perry is yet to comment on the controversy, except to tweet a short clip of cartoon character Minnie Mouse enthusiastically kissing Mickey Mouse with the hashtag, "#BenjaminGlaze".

Richie, Bryan and Perry then shared high-fives.

Trevor Holmes, a 27-year-old construction worker from Thousand Oaks, CA, then performed Brett Young's "In Case You Didn't Know", and Luke admitted, "Good Lord you're a dreamboat".

Glaze also said that he was not sexually harassed by the singer.

While he's right to be frustrated by the Internet using him as an example, it's hard to imagine Glaze, a small-town kid with big dreams, not being terrified of upsetting the mighty gatekeepers-ABC and the celebrity judges.

Glaze later did not make the cut, which Perry blamed on the fact his heartbeat sped up too much from getting the opportunity to kiss her.
