Watch: One-handed linebacker Shaquem Griffin stars at Scouting Combine bench press

2018 NFL Draft scouting report: Shaquem Griffin

For his next trick on Sunday he set the unofficial fastest 40-yard dash by linebacker - destroying the rest of the field with a time of 4.38 seconds.

It was a big weekend for Griffin, who on Saturday did 20 repetitions of 225 pounds in the bench press, using a prosthetic on his left arm to attach to the bar.

The 40 time out Griffin in rarefied air, as National Football League analyst Warren Sharp pointed out, Tweeting that Griffin is the only defensive player since 2000 to weigh in at more than 225 pounds (Griffin weigh 227) and run a sub-4.4 40.

Griffin was born with a deformed left hand which was amputated when he was 4 years old.

For what it's worth, at least one National Football League evaluator believes Griffin will be drafted at the end of the third round or early in the fourth. I think that'll get bumped up. He also earned defensive MVP honors in the Peach Bowl in January, which capped UCF's undefeated season with a win over Auburn. He was the (American Athletic) Conference player of the year two years ago. "So as soon as I heard I was at 16, I was like, 'Oh, yeah, I'm going for 20.' I was like, 'I'm going to change my fitness regimen, I've got to grind this out right here.' It felt awesome to reach that goal".

He worked out on the defensive line, at linebacker and at safety during the Senior Bowl in January.

"I hope I inspire a lot", he said. "Let's go! And I just started cranking them out". "If you want me to be a kicker or a punter, I'll just get a good stretch and I'll kick the ball, too". I couldn't believe he got the late invite here. One hand or not, Griffin is ready to make an impact immediately for any team willing to give him the chance. At the end of the day, you have to show people what you can do. He could be projected as a fifth or sixth round draft pick. "I always tell everybody, if I can inspire one, and they can inspire another and inspire a thousand later".
