Cleveland Cavaliers forward Kevin Love, now out with a broken hand, opened up about mental health in a piece on the Players' Tribune, writing about how he suffered a panic attack during an early November game against the Hawks and is seeing a therapist.
". Mental health is an invisible thing, but it touches all of us at some point or another". I wouldn't need to see the nurse, but I was going to skip the remainder of class - could he let the professor know? I nodded, but I didn't hear much of what he said. It's important to make sure that our friends are well taken care of, and that they feel comfortable talking about an issue. This led to some of the other players being angry with Love, who then reportedly came clean about his panic attacks.
Shout out to Kevin Love for that.
Personally, I have never head a panic attack but I don't need to have one to know that it sounds terrible. Nor did most people outside of the organization. I played 15 minutes of the first half and made one basket and two free throws.
A few muffled (or so I thought) gags later, it became apparent to those around me that something was up. While this hasn't resulted in a drop in performance and still resulted in an all-star season, Love has been recovering from a broken finger.
"I had buried those emotions since her passing and said to myself, I have to focus on basketball". In his column, the former UCLA standout revealed that he suffers from panic attacks at times - an ailment that forced him to leave a game in November. I think he could sense something was wrong. I didn't want to have to deal with everything sometime in the future, when it might be worse. "So I'm not saying everyone should share all their deepest secrets - not everything should be public and it's every person's choice".
Michigan Ends MSU's 13-Game Winning Streak
Turner hit another 3-pointer four minutes later that gave Tennessee (23-7, 13-5 SEC) its first lead since early in the first half. Rahkman made three 3-pointers, but none was bigger than one he hit with the shot-clock winding down with 2:45 to play.
