Anthony Scaramucci Says He's Banned From The White House

Kelly jokes 'God punished me' when he left Homeland Security for the White House

White House Chief of Staff cracked jokes during his appearance at the 15th anniversary celebrations of the Department of Homeland Security celebration

Scaramucci is among a list of ousted staffers who left the executive branch "under adverse circumstances" and has been placed on an "administrative exclusion list", the White House told the news organization.

"There was no story out yet", Kelly said.

Kelly released a new statement more than 24 hours later saying he was "shocked by the new allegations", but continued to defend Porter.

Kelly added that Porter had arrived at the White House the following day due to a "mix-up".

However Kelly acknowledged that the White House did not handle the situation as best it could.

John Kelly hasn't been chief of staff to President Donald Trump for even a year yet, but he appears to have learned one of the real estate tycoon's most central life lessons: Never, ever apologize.

"I have absolutely nothing to even consider resigning over", he said. Kelly initially offered a statement of support for Porter before detailed reports of the abuse surfaced including a photo of Porter's ex-wife's black eye. It won't be immediate, but he is resigning from the White House, but is going to stay on to ensure that there's a smooth transition moving forward. White House press secretary Sarah Sanders has repeatedly told reporters she does not discuss the individual security clearances of White House officials.

He is going to be leaving the White House. "The accusation was late in the afternoon, and it was simply one of his two former wives had. claimed that she had had some level of emotional abuse", Kelly said. Porter made it clear that he understood he'd lost his job and also the reasons for his ouster, a senior administration official explained to me.

The quick-talking former hedge funder has launched a campaign to oust Kelly, and his plan is to reach Trump by talking to the media, he told Bloomberg's Jennifer Jacobs.

In Early February, he defended former White House staff secretary Rob Porter's character to the Daily Mail-despite knowledge that Porter's two ex-wives told the Federal Bureau of Investigation he physically and verbally abused them, and that he would be denied permanent security clearance.

However, in a February 7 statement, Kelly said that he had accepted Porter's resignation earlier that day.

In a statement that evening to the Daily Mail, Kelly touted Porter's integrity and called him honorable.

But US media have reported there's evidence that Kelly knew at least the broad-stroke details of the allegations against Porter as far back as November 2016.

"The next day, probably around 10 or 11 o'clock [a.m.], somebody said Rob's still in the building". Porter's resignation then was made public on February 7.
