Upcoming Update Features PS4 Supersampling Mode
The entirety of PlayStation 4's 5.50 system software update shouldn't be a surprise to most.
The introduction of the Play Time Managementfeature seems to be the highlight of the update, letting family members track the play time of the child family members on PSN.
Notifications will be sent to children during gameplay so that they know when they should save and quit. For instance, if you've got a grounded kid, you can make sure they are only getting 30 minutes of PS4 gaming per-day. Sony dives right in by previewing new tools that will allow accounts designated as family managers to set restrictions on PS4 playtime for child accounts.
The Library will now sort your games, the "This PS4" tab lists game you have installed, the tab with your username will list all the games you have purchased (but perhaps have not installed), with another tab showing all your PlayStation Plus treats. You can hide content like betas, trials, and demos.
In a new blog post on the official PlayStation Blog, Sony detailed the features included with the new firmware update, codenamed "KEIJI". You'll also be able to customize your PS4 Home Screen with custom wallpapers imported from a USB stick. You can zoom and crop the image before saving it as your background, so no need to fiddle with dimensions or resolution beforehand. Simply head to Settings Select Theme Custom Select Image USB Storage Device.
Background music may not always be available, however, you will be able to listen to your own music while streaming a game on PS Now.
The brand new Supersampling mode enables users with HDTVs to enjoy enhanced visuals. This section also shows games that have been purchased, but not downloaded.
The holiday quarter was pretty big for the PlayStation 4: Sony affirms that strong hardware and software sales drove up its Games and Network Services segment sales by 16% year-over-year, and that it shipped 9 million PS4s during the season, or more than both of its previous quarterly shipments combined. They can do so via the pulldown menu under the Friends tab in Quick Menu. You can also now manually delete notifications. As an added benefit, gamers can hit the "triangle" button to play and pause music entirely for the Media Player.
Meanwhile, updates to the Quick Menu promise to help you more quickly access specific friends and control your music.
"Please note performance will vary, as games are optimised differently to take advantage of the power of the PS4 Pro".
Let us know which features you're most excited about, and remember it's not too late to join the beta.
One of the main changes with the PS4 5.50 update is that the game Library has now been divided into two different areas.
