US to impose 'toughest ever' sanctions on North Korea, Pence warns
Making his way to Pyeongchang to lead the USA delegation to Friday's opening ceremonies, Pence has embarked on a set of symbolic visits created to draw attention to the North's awful human rights record and nuclear aggression.
He also ratcheted up his rhetoric on the North's human rights abuses in a speech to USA service members at Yokota Air Base in Japan.
While Choe is the only member of the North Korean delegation blacklisted by the Security Council, South Korea asked the sanctions committee for broad approval to host the entire high-level delegation from Pyongyang between February 9 and 11, according to the request seen by Reuters on Wednesday.
Pence is leading the USA delegation to the Pyeongchang Games' opening ceremonies and will also participate in symbolic events meant to shine a spotlight on North Korea's nuclear program and human rights abuses.
