More lawmakers want Missouri governor to leave Mugshot of Gov. Eric Greitens
A St. Louis grand jury indicted Greitens for invasion of privacy, alleging the 43-year-old Governor took a compromising photo of a woman he was having an affair with, one year prior to his election.
In a freakish bit of narrative jiu jitsu, the party somehow has laid the blame at the feet of billionaire, and bogeyman to the alt-right, George Soros.
Said Greitens and his wife Sheena in the statement: "A few years ago, before Eric was elected governor, there was a time when he was unfaithful in our marriage".
Executive Director Sam Cooper suggested in a statement Friday morning that hundreds of thousands of dollars received by circuit attorney Kim Gardner from "George Soros groups" was her motivation for the indictment. "Missourians should see this for what it is, a political hit job". The motion says the privacy law was meant to apply to "voyeurs or peeping toms who take photographs in locations such as restrooms, tanning beds, locker rooms, changing rooms and bedrooms".
Sen. Gary Romine, a Republican from Farmington, has clashed with the governor on a number of issues, including Greitens' move previous year to have a reconfigured state Board of Education fire Education Commissioner Margie Vandeven.
Missouri governor criticizes 'reckless liberal...
Eric Greitens from his executive board position after Greiten's Thursday arrest on an invasion of privacy charge, The Hill reported. "I take no pleasure in questioning his leadership ability going forward, but I do so with the confidence that Missouri is greater than one individual..."
Missouri's Republican House leaders say they are forming a group of lawmakers to investigate Gov. Eric Greitens following his indictment on a felony invasion-of-privacy charge.
"I look forward to the legal remedies to reverse this action".
"Regardless of the outcome, the citizens of Missouri deserve to have a Governor who they feel confident in placing their trust", Andrews said.
Greitens was indicted on Thursday for allegedly threatening to release nude photos of a former mistress if she ever talked publicly about their affair. He has been charged in St. Louis with knowingly photographing a woman "in a state of full or partial nudity, without the knowledge and consent" of said woman and "in a place where a person would have a reasonable expectation of privacy".
Dowd in a statement to the AP said Greitens will file a motion to dismiss the charges.
"I believe in the grand jury system completely and I believe it is a fair system and we need it", said UMKC Law Professor Rafe Foreman. Republicans have already announced they are launching an investigation into the indictment charge.
The joint statement Thursday from House Speaker Todd Richardson, Speaker Pro Tem Elijah Haahr and Majority Leader Rob Vescovo didn't specifically mention impeachment, a process that must begin in the House with an investigation. The people of Missouri deserve no less. If the indictment stands, the first court hearing is scheduled for March 16.
She said Greitens "taped my hands to these rings and then put a blindfold on me", took a photo of her partially nude, and then warned her to remain silent.
While Dowd is working on Greitens' behalf, his law firm has hired Clout Public Affairs as a consultant. On February 23, the RGA announced that Greitens would be stepping down and cancelling an appearance with their organization in Washington, D.C. He accused the Democratic prosecutor of playing politics.
