Rain We Energies

CHICAGO - A Flood Watch issued by the National Weather Service is in effect for the entire Chicago area beginning Monday evening and running through Tuesday night.

According to a report and spokesperson from the National Weather Service, flooding from the Red Cedar River is expected to begin on Wednesday and peak at noon on Friday. However, it won't be a flash freeze said Frey as the temperatures are expected to remain in the mid-to-upper 40s. Storms are expected to continue on and off from Monday afternoon until Tuesday night.

The weather service hydrologic outlook predicts the Clinton River could breach the 16-foot flood level in Clinton Township and Mount Clemens by Wednesday.

An Alert Day has been issued for Wednesday due to the potential heavy rain and flash flooding in the ArkLaTex. The coolest high temperature we will see this week will be on Wednesday with temperatures still reaching the 40's. This week there may be widespread backwater flooding on creeks and streams, with road flooding in low-lying areas.

High-standing water is being reported in many areas. But the watch was dropped early Tuesday for Wood, Ottawa, Sandusky, Seneca, and Hancock counties.

By Saturday, up to 6 inches of rain is forecast in several rounds of precipitation across much of the state.

A Flood Watch means conditions are favorable for heavy rain which may lead to flooding of low lying areas. Rainfall amounts between 1 and 3 inches are expected with additional water added to runoff from the complete melting of the snowpack.
