Don't fret -- BC wines unlikely to dry up here

Notley lifts ban on BC wine imports in Alberta

"I think it is fair to say that in a small way today B.C. blinked", Notley said.

In response to that, Notley halted all retaliatory actions against BC, including a ban on our wine.

Less than an hour before Notley's press conference, Horgan revealed B.C.is asking the courts to confirm whether it has the right to protect its coastline by restricting the amount of diluted bitumen being shipped in the controversial Trans Mountain expansion.

Trudeau's position on this issue puts him in conflict with the almost two-thirds of Metro Vancouver residents who find their provincial government's argument more persuasive than the 42 per cent who oppose the pipeline.

Bell says the winery will need to complete a large expansion project within the next couple of years in order to properly supply the Alberta market.

Before this is done Premier Notley should have a plan and not fight a trade war with the western provinces; otherwise she will have a bad track record and not find anyone to supply her with electricity when the demand is there.

However, B.C. demands are backed up by American and Canadian scientists who have warned that there are significant gaps and uncertainties in the science related to how to clean up a bitumen spill in water.

Just over half the respondents (53 per cent) said the federal government should have final say on energy projects like Trans Mountain, representing a dip of only one per cent from data collected on the same issue in 2016.

The owner of St. Hubertus and Oak Bay Estate Winery in Kelowna is celebrating the end of Alberta's boycott of B.C. wine.

The foundation is a registered charity dedicated to defending constitutional rights and freedoms in the court or through public opinion.

"When we came forward with the ban ... we made it very clear: 'Pull Point Five and we will pull the ban.' And that's what happened", she said.

This means B.C. wine lovers in Wild Rose Country could have potentially run out of their favourite reds, whites, bubblies and icewines from the Okanagan Valley, Similkameen Valley, Vancouver Island and more if the ban went on long enough.

President and CEO Miles Prodan said the institute is still considering a constitutional challenge of inter provincial trade restrictions. Alberta NDP Premier Rachel Notley and Liberal Prime Minister Justin Trudeau-quite the back-room couple aren't they? "We hope that they do".

Horgan said his efforts to safeguard B.C.'s interests generated a disproportionate reaction from Alberta that put an entire industry and the livelihoods of people who depend on it at risk.

"I believe the federal government and the government of Alberta do not understand the depth of feeling that the transport of diluted bitumen has in B.C.", Horgan said.
