President Mamnoon Hussain addressed the main ceremony of the Kashmir Solidarity Day in Islamabad.
Meanwhile, a special sitting will be held today at the Aiwan-e-Karkunaan-e-Tehreek-e-Pakistan, the Mall, Lahore to express solidarity with the struggle of the people of Indian-held Kashmir.
He stressed that durable and peaceful solution of Kashmir issue is essential for bringing stability in South Asia and is pivotal to fully benefit from the collective and human resources of the region. By condemning the genocide of Kashmiris committed by Indian Occupation forces, the participants also paid great tribute to the fearless people of the valley. He reaffirmed the steadfast support of the people and government of Pakistan extended to the Kashmiri brothers and sisters in their struggle to achieve their inherent right to decide their future through self-determination on the occasion of solidarity.
Instead of giving them the right to self-determination, the Indian forces in the occupied Kashmir were using oppressive tactics and force against the innocent Kashmiris, they added.
In a statement issued to KNS, JKDFP said that party's incarcerated chief Shabir Ahmad Shah has always appreciated the support of Pakistan towards the freedom struggle of Kashmiri people at diplomatic, political and moral fronts.
"After more than seven decades, the people of Jammu & Kashmir continue to be deprived of the fundamental right to self-determination in stark contradiction to the promise made to them by the global community through the United Nations Security Council Resolutions".
