Colts reportedly have Frank Reich as their favorite for HC

Report | Frank Reich becomes frontrunner to land Colts job

The hiring of Reich ends the Colts' drama-filled coaching search after Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels chose to pass on the job after he already accepted the it. "You take all the great resources that you have as far as the staff and our head coach, and you pile your ideas together and then you've got to narrow them down and that's what we do".

According to ESPN, offensive coordinator Frank Reich has become the favorite to land the Indianapolis Colts' head coaching job.

The Eagles already lost quarterbacks coach John DeFilippo on Saturday when DeFilippo was named Minnesota Vikings offensive coordinator. Lest we forget, it was only two years ago that many of us were debating whether Reich's old boss and the newest Super Bowl-winning head coach, Doug Pederson, was ready.

Reich replaces Chuck Pagano as coach after a search that took a few twists and turns. He worked as Indy's wide receivers coach in 2011 after Manning missed the season because of injury. However, Frazier was an assistant coach for the Colts during the 2005-2006 season in which the Colts won the super bowl.

The Colts have a new head coach. Reich, as Pederson's latest right-hand man, is the right man for the task.

As a player, Reich appeared in 118 games, 20 as a starter.

Reich can draw on his experiences as a former quarterback both in dealing with quarterback issues and in play calling. He led the Bills to the largest playoff rally in history in 1992, when Buffalo overcame a 32-point deficit to defeat the Houston Oilers. He has been able to observe two of the greatest in National Football League history, backing up Kelly and coaching Manning.

What is interesting about this hire is that three coaches McDaniels picked to be on his staff will remain in their roles, including new defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus.
