President Trump Plans to End ISS Funding by 2025

NASA NASA Space Station On Orbit Status 24 January 2018- First Spacewalk of 2018 Completed
The ISS theoretically doesn't have long left in its engine, and is due to be inoperable by 2028, but cutting off NASA's funding by 2025 could lead to other worldwide space organisations following suit, meaning that the commercial sector would have to take control of the ISS in the interim.
For more than a decade, White House officials have struggled with the tension between continuing to spend roughly $4 billion annually on the International Space Station and shifting some or all of that money to boost space travel beyond Earth orbit.
The official budget proposal will be released on February 12, and it will be reviewed by the Congress, who will have the final decision on the budget.
That potential impact on the industry, he said, "is one of the reasons why Congress has directed NASA to look at extending the ISS to 2028 and to provide a plan to help scientists and researchers continue experimenting in low Earth orbit beyond that".

The first ISS crew launched in 2000 and 108 astronauts - including 51 American crew members and 138 other astronauts from Nasa - have taken turns living in the floating research laboratory ever since.
But for all the talk about pulling support from the space station, the White House is on the record with its support of maintaining a human presence in low Earth orbit, the neighborhood in space that the station inhabits.
Several companies, including Axiom Space, Bigelow Aerospace and NanoRacks have proposed developing commercial stations, in some cases starting with commercial modules on the ISS. The administration also seeks to establish a space station, called Deep Space Gateway, in the vicinity of the moon. One of them is even attached to the station now, as a test site. Many other partners also need to decide whether or not they want to continue to work with Nasa and the ISS after 2024. "What also is a fact is the ISS is still the only game in town that we have at the moment".
