Some cities in the Bay Area will have an increase in wages that will be higher. And that is the same rate for smaller companies with annual gross receipts of $305,000 or less per year, after January 1, 2018.
On Dec. 31, the minimum wage in New York City will increase to $13, and for workers employed by small businesses with 10 or fewer employees, it will increase to $12. If pay rates had increased in parallel with those of chief executives, then it should have been £12.74 an hour, which works out to nearly £12,000 more than people are now paid.
Although the raise will help poor working Ohioans, but $8.30 per hour still leaves a full-time worker about $3,000 short of the poverty line for a family of three and this is why there is a push from many workers to pass a state-level $15 per hour minimum wage. When the wages increase, it makes it "cost effective" for employers to look for alternatives like self-check outs and other automated systems. The new employee scheduling regulations that are now in a public comment period, adds additional costs, paperwork and scheduling challenges to the backs of employers.
