Celebrities and fans praise Kesha's powerful Grammys performance

29 January 2018, 09:07 | Conrad Doyle

"Praying" served as a moment of victory for Kesha, who has been involved in a years-long legal battle against her producer Dr. Luke, who she accused of drugging and raping her, as well as physically, verbally, and emotionally abusing her.

Kesha then took the stage, wearing all white, joined by a chorus of female singers such as Andra Day, Cyndi Lauper and Bebe Rexha to sing her song, "Praying". All of the women were dressed in white. She released her third studio album, Rainbow, last August, marking her first album since 2012's Warrior.

Kesha was also introduced by Janelle Monáe, who gave a rousing and powerful speech about ending sexual misconduct and promoting gender equality in the music industry.

"We say time's up for pay inequality, discrimination or harassment of any kind, and the abuse of power", she said.

The 60th Annual Grammy Awards are airing live from Madison Square Garden on CBS. After all the "hell" she was put through, as Kesha sings in her Best Pop Solo-nominated hit, she now literally has the entire force of music behind her.

Some artists considered the lack of Grammys a snub.

Many viewers were highly anticipating Kesha's performance of "Praying" at the 2018 Grammys.

"'Praying' is a attractive song in meaning and delivery and should've been a no brainer" for a Grammy, Daya tweeted.

Taking a stand. Stars including Jesse Tyler Ferguson and La Toya Jackson took to social media to praise Kesha following her powerful performance of "Praying" at the Grammy Awards 2018 on Sunday, January 28.

What followed was an incredibly moving, exceedingly powerful, and above all else fearless performance of her redemption ballad 'Praying,' firmly announcing her return to the industry after a long, ugly, and protracted legal battle with her alleged abuser Dr Luke.
