Britain Will Have Its "Own Solution" To EU Links, France's Macron Says

France would have voted to leave EU too, says Emmanuel Macron

German Chancellor Angela Merkel left and the President of the Parliament of France Francois de Rugy right attend a joint meeting of the German and the French parliament at the Bundestag in the Reichstag building in Berlin Germany Monday Jan. 22

The UK and France are "making a new tapestry together", Mr Macron said as the countries agreed new cooperation on defence and measures to tackle the migrant crisis.

The future relations between London and Brussels may be an option that is average between full access and a trading deal.

And as leaders in Berlin and London find themselves distracted by internal politics, including coalition negotiations and Brexit, Paris-Washington ties are enjoying renewed strength.

The announcement came as U.K. Prime Minister Theresa May and French President Emmanuel Macron held a bilateral summit Thursday meant to strengthen security and intelligence ties between the neighboring nations, and to build goodwill as Britain negotiates its exit from the European Union.

A new treaty between the two countries will enable the improvement of security at Calais, costing the United Kingdom around £45 million.

On his first visit to the United Kingdom this week, President Macron signed a treaty with the Prime Minister to speed up the processing of migrants in Calais.

Emmanuel Macron attributed the UK's decision to leave the European Union to British voters' loss of faith in globalisation and unrestricted free markets.

Offering his interpretation of Britain's vote to leave the EU, Mr Macron said: "My understanding is that middle-classes and working-classes - and especially the oldest in your country - decided that the recent decades were not in their favour". It is some joint management.

President Macron believes European Union interests are France's interests.

The French president, making his first visit to Britain since entering the Elysee Palace, was greeted at Sandhurst with a guard of honour from the Coldstream Guards.

Mrs May praised the "uniquely close relationship" between the two nations.

"This special way should be consistent with the preservation of the single market and our collective interests".

The comments undermine the position of some Brexit supporters who want to regain control of the U.K.'s borders and shun the oversight of European courts while retaining access to the single market.

"Such are the rules, and we know the system already in place for Norway".

He added: "So it's something perhaps between this full access and a trade agreement".

The Prime Minister has repeatedly outlined her wish for a post-Brexit trade deal including both goods and services.

"That is an advantage not just for the United Kingdom, it's actually good for Europe and good for the global financial system".
