The Salvation Army is distancing itself from a man the social agency says is attempting to fleece people out of cash in a door-to-door scam.

It's the last big drive for the Salvation Army's Red Kettle Drive.

The thief's bad behavior inspired Jones to replace the stolen money with a $200 donation.

"Do you have it?'" Captain Ken Chapman of the Salvation Army told Fox 23.

He said:"All three of them are very talented and dedicated members of our band and they take part in many different carol services and events over the Christmas period".

The Salvation Army is in the midst of its busiest time of year, receiving donations of food and toys from the public and distributing them to those in need.

"Even if you have a dollar, just a dollar, it will mean so much because dollars add up", Jones said.

"We can use people on weekdays, especially at Walmart" in Hazle Twp., Gonzalez said. "We could not do what we do if it wasn't for those who volunteer their time to ring the bells".

"We do not support The Salvation Army or consider them our "partner" for this project, they simply linked us to a needy family", The Blaze quoted the shop's Facebook post as saying.
