Sony #Rewards has recently added #Playstation Trophies to the list of ways to earn points based on how many trophies you have.
The point distributions is as follows: a 1000 silver trophies will net you 100 points and 25 gold will give you 250, while 10 platinums will give you a 1000 points. This might even get me to start hunting for that "Back From Hell" trophy you get for completing the ever tedious, ever frustrating Extreme Survival in Street Fighter 5. A big thing here is that all the trophies earned before signing up for the program do not count toward any points. Unfortunately, there are a couple caveats - the promotion is only available in the U.S., and you can't cash in PlayStation Trophies you've already earned. They are valid for people in the United States. Maybe you have a plethora of easy games to platinum on hand that will let you earn some quick cash.
1,000 Sony Rewards Points can be traded for $10 in PlayStation Store credit. Microsoft championed the achievement/trophy system as we know it today with the launch of the Xbox 360 in 2005. You'll be placed in different rewards tiers as you increase your score and you don't have to start from scratch - any achievements you earned in the past will be used to calculate your starting tier, and the gems you're given through the program can be used to purchase a variety of products including Xbox One controllers.
Whatever side of the line in the sand you stand on regarding achievements and trophies, this feature will be sure to make gamers happy. So if you have a lot of trophies right now none of those counts.
