This was a reference to "vanilla" WoW servers, which players have logged into behind Blizzard's official back to play earlier, pre-expansion versions of WoW. As expected, we have a new expansion inbound, Battle for Azeroth, which gets back to the franchise's core conflict of the Alliance versus the Horde.

World of Warcraft is a game that has been part of millions of lives for a very long time now.
Still, the fact that Blizzard is even working on this feature at all speaks to their willingness to respond to fan requests if not their ability to do so in a timeframe that is always optimal in the minds of a game's fanbase.
Well, Blizzard has relented: at the annual BlizzCon event in California, which is taking place this weekend, WoW executive producer J. Allen Brack told the crowd that classic servers are making a comeback. Additionally the Isle's of Azsroth will allow teams of three to explore and take loot while competing against others. A quick preview video of the expansion also teases new dungeons, raids, allied races, and uncharted islands to plunder.
In typical WoW fashion, Battle for Azeroth is bringing new leveling zones into the mix - with a twist. We'll have a lot more info about Battle for Azeroth as Blizzcon continues.
Game director Ion Hazzikostas took center stage to break the good news and explain a little bit about how it will work for those that may have skipped out on the latest expansion.
