Derek Carr shook off the two overturned touchdown passes to connect for the victor to Michael Crabtree after the game was extended by two defensive holding penalties, and the Raiders snapped a four-game losing streak with a 31-30 victory over the Chiefs on Thursday night.

The Oakland Raiders finally stopped Alex Smith and his Kansas City Chiefs. From a 41-39 thriller between the Los Angeles Rams and San Francisco 49ers (as weird to write as it is to read) to the Philadelphia Eagles nail-biting win over the Carolina Panthers in Week 6, Thursday night has been a delight for National Football League fans so far.

With all the offense, however, the game swung on one of the few big defensive plays. After this play, Giorgio Tavecchio did the rest and converted an extra point which brought a much-needed victory to California.

The penalty pushed the Raiders back to the 10-yard line and gave them time to run one play with just three seconds left.

The former first-round pick averaged 19.1 yards a catch, and was credited with hauling in both of Carr's touchdown passes during the first half.

The Oakland Raiders scored two apparent game-winning touchdowns that didn't count.

And in the process, righted a ship taking on enough water that any playoff hopes were almost immersed in four straight defeats. Furthermore, after 12 triumphs in a row, it was the first failure against the teams from the same division. Smith hit Demarcus Robinson on a 33-yard pass on the first play of the drive.

I get that Aaron Rodgers going down last week was a buzz kill, but the Packers' opponent in Week 7 is the New Orleans Saints, who have already given up three passing touchdowns in three of their five games this year. Later in the quarter Carr and Cooper connected on a 45-yard score, making Cooper the first Raiders receiver with two TD catches in the first quarter since Mervyn Fernandez in 1989. After a short run, Tyreek Hill beat David Amerson for a 64-yard touchdown pass that gave the Chiefs their first 99-yard drive since doing it December 3, 2006, against Cleveland. In 36 attempts, he completed 25 passes, which is a solid result productivity. Kareem Hunt ran for 87 yards and had another 30 receiving to go over 100 scrimmage yards in a seventh straight game.

We had seen one pretty unpleasant scene during the second quarter when Kansas City's Marcus Peters made one harsh tackle on Carr, and the players of the hosts were pretty angry, creating a brawl for a minute. Even running back Marshawn Lynch found a way to get ejected from the ball game during a play he wasn't even on the field for. While Jalen Richard and DeAndre Washington did their best to man the depleted running back corps, Lynch chose to watch the rest of the game from the bleachers because Oakland.
