Prepare For A Stormy Sunday; Wind, Flood Watches In Effect

Strong Winds & Heavy Rain May Lead to Power Issues

The heaviest rain is expected to fall Sunday afternoon into the evening, the National Weather Service said. West winds between 10 to 20 miles per hour will produce gusts as high as 30 miles per hour.

Thousands of people in central Pennsylvania are without power this morning as severe weather pounded the region with powerful winds and drenching rains.

A very strong late October coastal storm will impact New Hampshire late Sunday into Monday with damaging wind gusts and the potential for flash flooding.

Wind Damage: Power outages and tree damage likely, structural damage possible. In addition, drivers in high-profile vehicles should use extra caution until the winds subside.

"We could even see even higher amounts than that, especially east of I-95, east of Philadelphia, and even points north, where we could pick up upwards of four, even five inches", she said.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets, and underpasses as well as other drainage areas and low lying spots, according to the service. Highs are expected to be in the mid-60s Monday and be back to more seasonal low 70s by Tuesday.

It will be partly sunny with a chance of rain on Friday and partly sunny, but drier, on Saturday and Sunday. Expect a high of 67 and a low of 44.

As of 6:00 a.m., PPL and Met-Ed say they are working to assist more than 4,800 homes and businesses in Dauphin County.

Once the strong moves out, the power outage threat will continue into the day on Monday.
