According to the poll, 46 percent of voters believe the news media makes up stories about Trump and his administration, while 37 percent of voters do not believe the media fabricates stories.

Almost half of voters (46 percent) say they think the news media make up stories about President Donald Trump and his administration, according to a poll conducted by POLITICO and Morning Consult.

A new survey showed that almost half of Americans believed that the media fabricated stories about President Donald Trump.


According to a Morning Consult/Politico poll released Wednesday, about half of US voters think that mainstream news outlets push out false content, or crowd favorite "fake news", when publishing articles on US President Donald Trump. Another 17 percent were undecided. "Even 20 percent of Democrats think that the national media fabricate stories on President Trump and his administration".

Sixty percent of independents expect Trump will be remembered as a below average leader or one of the worst presidents in history.

Amid Trump's repeated attacks on various publications and journalists writ large, many already rigorous national news organizations have become increasingly sensitive in rare instances in which reporters bungle major news stories. The margin of error is +/- 2 percentage points.
