The AP Top 25 Poll | NCAA College Football
The top 5 in both polls is the same, starting with Alabama, Clemson, Oklahoma, Penn State and USC. The Sooners stayed at No. 3 in the Coaches Poll. Ohio State ran all over the Sooners with 291 rushing yards in a 45-24 win in Norman, Oklahoma, last season.
Kentucky still isn't in the top 25 but the Wildcats are getting closer.
Cal, despite improving to 3-0 by beating Ole Miss 27-16, remains outside the rankings.
In the Big 12, Oklahoma state rose three spots to No. 6 after a 59-21 victory at Pittsburgh.
Clemson piled up 578 yards of total offense, including 297 on the ground, in a 47-21 victory at Louisville on Saturday night. The majority of movement came as a result of one ranked team knocking off another, with very few upsets of ranked squads by those outside the Top 25. Miami is up to No. 14 from No. 17 despite not playing.
- No. 22 San Diego State beat a Pac-12 team for the second straight week - this time Stanford - to enter the rankings. Oklahoma State 7. Washington 8. Three Big Ten teams round out the top 10 - MI (3-0), Wisconsin (3-0) and Ohio State (2-1). Mississippi State joins the Top 25 at No.17 after dominating LSU 37-7. Florida State 13. Virginia Tech 14.
Auburn, meanwhile, looked like it had a hangover following its loss to Clemson, with four fumbles and an interception against an FCS team that resurrected its program just five years ago. Buyer beware on that front, though, as they will face No. 1 Alabama (home), No. 24 Florida (road), No. 13 Georgia (home) and undefeated Ole Miss (road) the next four weeks.
