Aaron Altherr's grand slam powers Phillies to 4-3 win over Dodgers

Clayton Kershaw saw two things come to an end Monday with one swing of the bat.
Nick Pivetta the giant-killer helped the Phillies to a series-opening victory last night in a game the Phillies had no business winning. That grand slam home run was Altherr's 17th for the season and put the Philadelphia Phillies up 4-2.
While Kershaw had given up 125 home runs prior to last night, none of those occurred with the bases loaded.
Maikel Franco, J.P. Crawford, and Jorge Alfaro each took an 0-3. "He [Kershaw] usually finds a way to make that pitch to get out of the inning". While Odubel Herrera tried to make a play on the ball, it hit the ideal spot on the wall and deflected clear over Aaron Altherr's head. And the Los Angeles Dodgers continued to sputter their way toward a National League West clinching party.
Tonight's loss doesn't hurt the Los Angeles Dodgers all that much.
PHILADELPHIA - With baseball headed to an all-time high in home runs this season, a lot of players are doing things they have never done before.
A career.234 hitting with only 25 home runs in four seasons with the Phillies, 26-year-old Aaron Altherr became the first person ever to hit a grand slam off Dodgers' ace Clayton Kershaw.
In other news, The Diamondbacks lost to the Padres on Monday, cutting the Dodgers' magic number down to just three! It was the longest scoreless streak by any pitcher against the Phillies since the Mets' Tom Seaver blanked them for 38 consecutive innings from 1969-70. "In that sixth inning, that leadoff walk got him, and then another walk".
A sixth inning that began with a walk by pinch-hitter Ty Kelly and a flare single by Freddy Galvis grew steam when Hoskins battled Kershaw for seven pitches to work a walk.
Altherr was all over a 1-and-1 slider from Kershaw, driving it into the seats for the grand slam.
The creative home run was also Taylor's 20 of the season, making him the fifth Dodger with 20 or more home runs this season.
Monday was Kershaw's fourth start since returning from a lower back strain and Roberts said he is "right where you would expect" given the five-week layoff. Altherr pounded it to the upper deck in left field for his second career grand slam. All three Dodger runs came on solo home runs.
