There has been precious little information available regarding the upcoming Captain Marvel movie in the works, and it's an important film for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. "And we thought that would be an unbelievable, huge portion of mythology to belong to Captain Marvel".

The news came accompanied with a couple more big developments: Captain Marvel will fight the Skrulls in the movie, and Samuel L. Jackson will reprise his role as Nick Fury, only this time he'll have full use of both his eyes. It's unclear if we'll see how he lost his eye or if that's something that'll remain untouched for now, though. In the pages of Marvel comics, the Skrulls are a devious alien race with green skin and shapeshifting abilities who have been waging war against their adversaries, the Kree, for generations. They're still not even shooting yet, bu this year at Comic-Con, Marvel Studios dropped a few more juicy details.

Brie Larson is slated to play Captain Marvel herself, and the film will be the first Marvel feature with a female lead.

Earlier in Hall H saw Marvel Studios reveal brand new concept art for theCaptain Marvel movie as well as the villains and the timeline of the film.

Galactic war is coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and this time we're not talking about Thanos.

First up, we now know that the pic will not be a contemporary piece but will be set in the 1990s. You may remember the Kree from Guardians of the Galaxy, which immediately ties Captain Marvel to the deepest, cosmic depths of the MCU.

Check out the Captain Marvel concept art below. While fans of the decade are probably going to love seeing Brie Larson rock some iconic '90s fashion (please let Carol Danvers be a fan of the grunge-chic look), the announcement does raise some questions.
