Trump's move on Paris Accord endangers whole world

New Delhi, Jun 5 Rejecting strongly US President Donald Trump's charge against it on climate deal, India said today it signed the Paris agreement not under duress or for lure of money but due to its commitment to protect environment.

"Anyone who says we have signed Paris because of the lure of money, I reject that as baseless".

According to foreign media, she said "talks and terror can not go together" and added that India was engaged with other countries on the issue of cross-border terrorism.

"This commitment is 5,000 years old". We worship nature. It is in Indian ethos. "I clearly dismiss both accusations", she told reporters.

On the issue of India opposing China's OBOR project, the foreign minister said the project was opposed as it involved India's sovereignty.

"What President Trump spoke is not the reality", Ms Swaraj said.

The minister also emphasised that the government was asking other countries not to see cross-border issues or terrorism emanating from the neighbouring country from the prism of India but see if global terrorism was in any way linked with Pakistan. "When the Prime Minister goes to the United States to meet President Trump, he will raise this issue with him", she said.

The Minister underlined that the motto of her Ministry during all these three years had been "effective diplomacy, excellent delivery", to serve the country's developmental agenda which was sought to be achieved through programmes like Make in India and Smart City.

On the issue of Kashmir, she said that Pakistan could not take the Kashmir issue to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) as the matter had to be solved bilaterally. "Pakistan needs to create humane conditions for facilitating humanitarian ties with India", she said. Swaraj reiterated India's position that it will remain a part of the agreement with or without the US.

The External Affairs Minister lamented that there was no progress on the the investigation of the Pathankot attack in Pakistan.

Swaraj claimed that the government had developed friendly relations with the West Asia, unlike what the western countries predicted. She expressed confidence that India would win the case finally.

She also emphasised that India was engaged with other countries on the issue of cross-border terrorism. She also outlined how the government has a clear strategy when it comes to India-Pakistan relations, and that terror and talks couldn't go together. She said that there had been no reduction in engagement with the US under the Trump administration, adding that the Indo-US relationship is one of "mutual benefit".
