Jack Nicklaus on Tiger Woods: 'He needs our help'

Tiger Woods Asleep At The Wheel At Time Of DWI Bust

Fresh details emerging from the police report into the arrest of Tiger Woods on Monday night have revealed that the Mercedes auto inside which he was found asleep at the wheel had two flat tyres on the driver's side as well as damage to the bumpers on the same side.

The arresting officer said Woods was slurring his speech and didn't know where he was as his auto sat in the right lane of Military Trail.

The fall of Tiger Woods has taken its latest and perhaps most serious turn, with confirmation that the golfer was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of possibly drugs in Florida in the early hours of Monday. It said Woods was cooperative but had a hard time walking and keeping his eyes open.

Woods, 41, was also said to have been unaware of his whereabouts and believed he had been coming from Los Angeles where he had been playing golf, a story he changed.

Woods, who issued a statement on Monday saying alcohol was not involved in the incident, needed to be woken by a police officer, his arrest report showed.

In a statement, he said: "I didn't realise the mix of medications had affected me so strongly".

A police report released Tuesday says Tiger Woods told officers that he was recovering from back surgery and admitted he was taking medications, including Vicodin, which is a very strong prescription drug.

A 79-time victor on the PGA Tour who was world No. 1 for a record 683 weeks, Woods lost form in recent years due to injuries and the mastering of a new swing while his ranking has plummeted to 876 after his long spell on the sidelines.

Jack Nicklaus says he feels bad for Tiger Woods and called him a friend who needs "all our help". If watching Woods struggle on the golf course in recent years was fun, there's nothing like seeing him before a booking cam on his way to the slammer.

He underwent a fourth back surgery in April that is expected to keep him out for at least six months.

Woods said he wanted to apologize to his family, friends and fans, adding that "I expect more from myself, too". He was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail around 7 a.m. Monday and left on his own recognizance at around 11 a.m., jail records show.

May 2011 " Woods withdraws from The Players Championship after a 42 on the front nine and takes a break of almost three months.

His police report, obtained and published by several media outlets, said Woods was "co-operative" and "confused".

He is due in court July 5.

Back spasms prompt Woods to withdraw from the second round of the Dubai Desert Classic, cutting short his return from a 16-month injury layoff. He promised to do everything in his power to ensure it never happens again. He has a $25-million yearly deal with the sporting goods giant.

"I began observing the driver as Officer Palladino went back towards his police vehicle".
